Childhood obesity - promoting healthy weight
Our social marketing team have been working with NHS North of Tyne to help promote healthy eating and ‘being active’ messages across communities in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. Aimed at children, young people and adults, this social change project aimed to produce a range of healthy weight interventions to actively engage with both the target groups and with health professionals, aligned to the national Change4Life campaign.
Using existing social marketing insight, combined with our own research, we designed and produced a suite of information to raise awareness of three programmes targeting young people deemed as overweight; On the Go Newcastle, Get Active Northumberland and Healthy4Life North Teeside.
To support sustainable behaviour change around healthy weight, our social marketing team also planned, scripted, filmed and produced a short promotional DVD featuring real-life case studies from children and their families who've been through the programmes - highlighting the sustainable impact on their lives.
Working with the Change4Life programme in Newcastle, we helped facilitate a stakeholder event to highlight how it could be promoted in the local community.
Following the success of this campaign, our social change specialists have also produced similar resources to support positive social change for adults and pregnant women around healthy weight.
